Directed in 2011 by Alawn Brown, Private Romeo is a modern version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet play. In this case, when eight cadets are left behind at an isolated military high school, the greatest romantic story ever written seeps out of the classroom and permeates their lives.
The gay love story between two cadets is filmed mixing the classic drama with the non-conventional staging of his director. Incorporating the original text of Romeo and Juliet, some YouTube videos and the original score composed by Nicholas R. Wright, this film takes us to a mysterious and tender place that only Shakespeare could have inspired.
With Seth Numrich and Matt Doyle starring, and supported by other talented young actors, they all do a credible performance almost theatrical.
This movie won the Grand Jury Award at Outfest 2011, in the LGBT Los Angeles Film Festival.
