U.S. Ambassador marries boyfriend

Rufus Gifford, the U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, married his partner, Dr. Stephen DeVincent, in a ceremony in Copenhagen Saturday morning.

Gifford, who was confirmed as ambassador to the Scandinavian nation in late 2013, noted the country’s long acceptance of same-sex marriage in his Instagram post that was bursting with newlywed pride.

"Just married in Copenhagen where the first legal gay partnerships took place 26 years ago", Gifford wrote. "Now heading back to celebrate with our friends and family from all over the world at our residence under the American flag. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined such a perfect day. Life is good", he added.

Congrats to the newlyweds!
