Romeo Beckham makes acting debut in gay tennis romance

 

Forty Love, a drama set in professional tennis, exploring the balance between ambition, performance, and intimacy on the French Riviera.

The movie marks the feature film directing debut of fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, who also co-wrote the script alongside Gaëlle Macé.

The story revolves around Sacha Gallo, a tennis superstar who’s been training with his father to win a major trophy in Paris. But the arrival of a charismatic new rival — played by Romeo Beckham — challenges everything Sacha thought he understood about competition, ambition and himself. 

For the first time, Sacha faces an opponent of an entirely different nature: love. A force as exhilarating as it is destabilizing and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.

Joe Locke stars in a new movie

 

Heartstopper actor Joe Locke stars alongside Tom Cullen in queer drama Black Church Bay. The film director is Rhys Marc Jones.

In a remote Welsh coastal village, the disappearance of an openly-gay sixth form student disrupts the delicate balance of local life for one deputy head teacher, exposing long-buried secrets and threatening to tear the community apart.

Rather than treating the relationship as a straightforward forbidden romance, the story appears positioned to examine the enormous imbalance of power between an adult teacher and a teenage student, while asking what happens when a seemingly idyllic community is forced to confront the secrets hiding beneath its surface.

The film is scheduled to premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 15.

Joe Locke spent four years playing Charlie Spring, alongside Kit Connor, in Heartstopper, one of television’s gentlest gay love stories.

Tip Toe, how two neighbours become enemies due prejudice and toxic social media

 

Tip Toe is a 2026 British television miniseries written by Russell T Davies and starring Alan Cumming and David Morrissey.

Neighbors Leo, a Canal Street gay bar owner, and Clive, an electrician with a wife and two sons, find their lives unraveling as social tensions rise. A simple request for a spare key spirals into deadly hostility, paranoia, and the dangerous radicalization in their Manchester suburb.

The show explores the effects of anti-LGBTQ rhetoric on social media, leading the neighbours to gradually become deadly enemies. As events unfurl involving Clive's son George and online conspiracy theories, the series reaches a deadly conclusion.

Tip Toe takes a far grimmer approach, proposing that not only is life still hard for queer people in the UK, but things are moving backwards, and that the hatred is reaching a deadly breaking point.

While this series is a fiction, and one that makes its arguments with sledgehammer grace, it is sadly not absurd, or abstract. Hate crimes and anti-LGBTQ violence are on the rise.

The Black Ball (La bola negra)

The Black Ball (La bola negra) is a 2026 Spanish drama film directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi (Los Javis), inspired by the unfinished work of the same name by Federico García Lorca. 

Los Javis may no longer be together, but their creative partnership is as strong as ever. The pair are back with The Black Ball, an epic drama following the interconnected lives of three gay men. The plot shifts between 1932, 1937, and 2017.

Loosely adapted from the work of renowned Spanish poet and playwright Federico García Lorca, The Black Ball stars some big names, like Penélope Cruz and Glenn Close, and Guitarricadelafuente in his acting debut. 

The pair emphasised their focus was honouring the queer community. Ambrossi shared: “As part of the LGBTQIA+ community, do we honour like we should the people who were murdered, who endured repression, who fought for our rights? Would they look at us and be proud? I ask myself this very often.”

Calvo also added: “We also wanted to explore the idea of inheritance – the inherited hatred and shame – and how that is pervasive even today.”

The film had its world premiere in the main competition of the 79th Cannes Film Festival on 21 May 2026, earning Calvo and Ambrossi the Best Director prize. Early reviews praise the film for its period-drama ambition and scale.

Euphoria season 3 release

Euphoria, one of the most-watched series in all of HBO’s history that earned 25 Emmy nominations and 9 wins, is back with more heart-pounding drama.

The series follows a group of young adults navigating sex and drug addiction, love, friendship and trauma. Season three will feature a time jump that follows the cast into their adult lives after graduating high school. 

Zendaya will return to reprise her role of Rue Bennett, as will Hunter Schafer in her role as Jules Vaughn. The rest of show's principal stars Jacob Elordi, Eric Dane, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Colman Domingo, Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry are set to return.

There will be new faces, of course, including Sharon Stone, Grammy winner Rosalia, football player Marshawn Lynch, Emmy nominee Natasha Lyonne and even Trisha Paytas.

After a five-year time jump, the characters are navigating life after graduating college. Rue is south of the border in Mexico and in debt to a drug dealer while Cassie and Nate get married and live in the suburbs. Jules is in art school and Maddie is working for a Hollywood talent agency. Lexi is an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone.

Though HBO has not officially confirmed whether season three is Euphoria’s last, many fans have assumed it would be the end after there was a four-year hiatus between season two and three.

In from the side, a gay rugby engaging story

 

In from the side, it is a romantic British rugby drama directed by Matt Carter, and starred by Alexander Lincoln and Alexander King.

This surprisingly moving sports-team story is slathered in sweat, streaked with mud, and dripping with sensuality. As a "B Squad" of gay athletes try to overcome inexperience and push past rivalries to score an elusive win, a secret affair simmers among them. 

Mark (Lincoln) and Warren (King) from a cash-strapped, divided gay rugby club unwittingly sleepwalk into an adulterous affair, but must conceal their growing feelings or risk destroying the club they love. Mark finds himself unable to avoid the blazing appeal of teammate Warren. 

After losing their first game, B team takes on a serious competitor to establish themselves as a committed team or else they'll be dropped. Wanting to be with Mark, Warren offers to join the B team under the guise of helping them win.

Maspalomas, about going back into closet when gets old

Maspalomas, a Spanish gay-themed film directed by Jose Mari Goenaga, reflects on what it means to be a gay man in old age and the importance of safe spaces for the community. After years fighting for normalizing the coming out, there still are problems to have places for old queer people and most of them have to go back into the closet again when stay in nursing homes.

Vicente (Jose Ramon Soroiz), now 76 years old, came out of the closet and left his wife and daughter when he was 50. He has spent the last 25 years living happily with his partner in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria). However, everything is turned upside down when Vicente suffers a stroke that leaves him in a coma. When he wakes up, he is faced with an unexpected reality: he has been moved back to Donostia, and his daughter (Nagore Aranburu) has placed him in a nursing home. 

Vicente decides not to offer any explanation about his sexual orientation. At first, he doesn’t think it’s necessary. And so, almost without realizing it, Vicente returns to where he started—he goes back into the closet, renouncing everything he worked so hard to achieve.Brilliantly exploring bilingualism and elder solidarity, this is a life-affirming look at how it’s never too late to improve ourselves.

Pillion, a surprising queer BDSM movie

 

Pillion, written and directed by Harry Lighton, is a fascinating glimpse into a world that isn't often explored in film, centering around the BDSM relationship between commanding biker and his timid new submissive.

The film follows Colin (Harry Melling), a socially awkward parking attendant whose life takes a sharp turn when he meets Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), a confident, enigmatic biker. Their relationship quickly develops into a Dom/Sub dynamic, with Colin stepping into the submissive role.

Ray uproots Colin from his dreary suburban life, introducing him to a community of kinky, queer bikers and taking all sorts of virginities along the way. But as Colin steps deeper into Ray's world of rules and mysteries, he begins to question whether the life of a 24/7 submissive is for him.

On Swift Horses, the Elordi and Calva`s wildfire

 

On Swift Horses is a 2025 American historical romantic drama film directed by Daniel Minahan and written by Bryce Kass. Based on Shannon Pufahl's 2019 novel, it stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, Diego Calva and Sasha Calle.

In the 1950s, Muriel and Lee are beginning a bright new life together following his return from the Korean War, which is upended by the arrival of Lee's charismatic younger brother, Julius. 

Lee is keen for the three of them to build a new life in San Diego, but Julius decides to travel to Las Vegas instead, where he finds employment in a casino and meets Henry, a co-worker. Julius and Henry fall in love and the two men begin a secret romantic relationship. 

Meanwhile, Muriel embarks on a secret life of her own, gambling on racehorses and discovering a love she never thought possible after meeting Sandra, a lesbian neighbor.

Heated Rivalry, the addictive gay hockey show

 

“Heated Rivalry” will be shown weekly on HBO Max in the U.S. and Australia, starting with the two-episode debut on Nov. 28.

Adapted from the same name, the second novel in Rachel Reid's Game Changers book series, the show follows the eight-year relationship between rival professional hockey players whose on-ice animosity conceals a passionate, secret romance.

Set in the world of “Major League Hockey,” the six-part TV drama follows Shane Hollander (played by Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) as the two rookies’ tryst develops in secret, leaving their entire careers on thin ice.

Boston Bears captain Ilya Rozanov is everything Shane's not. The self-proclaimed king of the ice, he's as cocky as he is talented. No one can beat him—except Shane. They've made a career on their legendary rivalry, but when the skates come off, the heat between them is undeniable. When Ilya realizes he wants more than a few secret hookups, he knows he must walk away. The risk is too great.

Boots: a closeted teen Marine in the 90s

 

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming show Boots, which centers on the life of a closeted teen Marine.

"It’s 1990, you’re fresh out of high school and not sure what to do with your life, so, obviously, you follow your buddy blindly into the US Marine Corps... What could go wrong?" reads the trailer's caption on YouTube.

Based on the memoir The Pink Marine by Greg Cope White, Boots follows a closeted teen named Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) who, along with his best friend, joins the Marines. The series is set in the 1990s, when being openly gay in the military was illegal.

The NFL releases a video supporting LGBTQ community

 

The U.S. National Football League (NFL) has released a new video "Football is for everyone" that unequivocally embraces the LGBTQ community, stating that football is gay, lesbian, queer, transgender, beautiful and other descriptors. 

The NFL intention with the video is to send a strong message of acceptance from the league to fans, players and coaches. The video is a direct response to the coming out of Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib.

The film also features The Trevor Project to highlight life-saving resources for LGTBQ youth.

LGBTQ+ Americans reclaim the flag

 

Once a symbol of unity, freedom, and patriotism, the historic American flag has now become synonymous with fear for many Americans, citizens whose rights are in uncertain flux. 

Renowned designer Alexis Bittar and Academy Award-winning producer Bruce Cohen have created a short documentary showcasing a vast array of nearly 50 leaders and luminaries from the LGBTQ+ community, spanning age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity and profession, to raise a vital question: how do we reclaim the American flag?

The 30-minute short film calls on LGBTQ+ community leaders and trailblazers to share their story of resilience, and honor the rich diversity that truly makes America a country worth celebrating. 

From legendary activists Bill T. Jones and Raquel Willis; to RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Symone and the iconic Lena Waithe; to community leaders like Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, the film showcases a vast array of powerful voices, and examines how the flag can be reclaimed as a symbol of unity for all Americans, with a focus on the LGBTQ community.

A nice Indian boy

 

A nice Indian boy is a 2024 queer romantic comedy film directed by Roshan Sethi. 

Based on Madhuri Shekar's play of the same name, the film follows Naveen (Karan Soni), an Indian-American doctor, who brings his fiancé Jay (Jonathan Groff), a white man adopted by Indian parents, to meet his traditional family.

The film humorously and poignantly explores cultural expectations and queer identity. The story combines elements of both the American rom-com and the Indian Bollywood film to create a new and much-needed type of love story.

A tender rom-com about love and marriage today, gay or straight, arranged or not. An original plot elevated to classic status by great comedy, well developed characters and excellent performances. You'll definitely laugh, and may cry too. Highly recommended.

The film had its international premiere at BFI London Film Festival on 15 October 2024, and it received the audience award at the 2024 Tasveer Film Festival and won the Sherzum Award at the 2024 Hamptons Film Festival.

Mean Goals, a great gay sports comedy

 

Mean Goals is a great gay sports comedy from writer-director Ahuatl Amaro. The short film wears its eclectic influences on its jersey sleeve (that title is a nod to Mean Girls), but breaks new ground by featuring an all queer, Latine cast.

Tenoch (Abraham Rodriguez) joins an LGBTQ soccer team to bond with his dying father (Dave Silva) over their shared passion for the sport. But his desire to win his father’s approval is quickly eclipsed by a new obsession once he discovers the team is filled with mean soccer gays: he must now build a rival team to crush them at the Gay World Cup.

“Soccer, romance, locker room banter, and mean gays—this film has it all,” said star Abraham Rodriguez. “Mean Goals is unlike any sports comedy film out there as it combines comedy, action, and queer Latino leads all in one. It’s been a privilege to work with so many talented LGBTQ+ and POC actors and filmmakers.”

Heartstopper will say goodbye with a movie

Netflix has officially announced that the hit series Heartstopper, starring Kit Connor (Nick) and Joe Locke (Charlie), will conclude with a feature film, thus not returning for a full fourth season.

A release date has not been revealed for the Heartstopper movie finale, but filming will begin this summer 2025.

Heartstopper is about Charlie, an openly gay anxious boy, and Nick, a kind-hearted rugby player. They both go to the same school and when they meet, they immediately have a connection.

Before being a TV series, it was also a successful comic created by Alicce Oseman in 2016. After three years and 1 million books sold, there was talk of a television adaptation. After season 1, season 2 and season 3, Heartstopper will say goodbye with a movie.

Eismayer: a true story of a forbidden love in the army

 

In 2014, David Wagner stumbles across an article about Eismayer in an Austrian newspaper and is immediately captivated by the story: the most terrifying training officer in the Austrian Armed Forces falls in love with a recruit, eventually accepting his proposal and marrying him in full dress uniform in the barracks courtyard. What an idea for a movie.

Sergeant Major Eismayer (Gerhard Liebmann) is known and feared as the toughest training officer in the Austrian Armed Forces, ruthless with recruits and unwavering in his discipline, order and macho toughness. But when he starts to fall in love with Falak (Luka Dimić), a new recruit who unashamedly embraces his homosexuality, Eismayer’s closeted existence is shaken to the core. 

To a man like Eismayer, loving another man cannot be reconciled with the understanding of what a model soldier should be. Will he choose to protect his badass tough guy image over all else, or can he follow his heart and his true desire? 

The movie won the Grand Prize of the International Critics' Week, the autonomous and parallel section organised by the National Syndicate of Italian Film Critics during the 2022 Venice Film Festival.

Unconventional: a new queer TV comedy-drama

 

We have the trailer of Unconventional, a new LGBTQ+ series from the creators of Eastsiders, on Revry.tv.

The queer comedy-drama follows queer siblings Noah (Kit Williamson) and Margot Guillory (Aubrey Shea) as they explore life in their thirties, alongside their respective partners Dan (James Bland) and Eliza Slate (Briana Venskus).

Unconventional is created by Williamson, who also served as writer and director. He memorably created the acclaimed dark-comedy Eastsiders, also starring Willam, which received 14 Emmy Award nominations.

As they attempt to build an unconventional family, the four of them must navigate an unpredictable world while preserving the strong bonds they’ve formed along the way.

It is also starred by Tuc Watkins (The boys in the band), Jenna Ushkowitz (Glee), Dana Wheeler-Nicholason (Sex and the City), James Urbaniak (Difficult People), Laith Ashley (Pose), Willam (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Constantine Rousouli (Titanique) and comedian Kathy Griffin.

Bonus Track is a British musical coming-of-age romantic comedy film directed by Julia Jackman, in her feature directorial debut, based on an original story by Josh O'Connor, who also appears in the film, and Mike Gilbert, who wrote the screenplay.

It's 2006, and George (Joe Anders), a small-town sixteen-year-old, is on the road to complete social and academic failure. He dreams of being a star, knows he's a gifted musician, but no one else seems to agree. 

So, when Max (Samuel Small), the son of a mega-famous musical duo, enrolls at his school and takes an interest in his music, George can't believe it. Neither can anyone else. But as the boys grow closer, George begins to question why he actually wants to spend time with Max, finding himself faced with a dream-come-true scenario.

Lessons of Tolerance, how Ukrainians have changed over LGBTQ people

 

Lessons of Tolerance, directed by Arkadii Nepytaliuk, follows a Ukrainian family overcoming their homophobia, an education that war with Russia seems to be giving many in the country.

Inspired by Igor Bilyts’ 2017 play Gay Parade, the film follows a struggling, homophobic Ukrainian family who agree to host a gay activist in exchange for funding from the EU. They play games promoting equality and empathy, using humor against prejudice.

Like the family in his film, Nepytaliuk found his prejudices started to give way to acceptance by “studying, talking and working” with LGBTQ+ people as he got older. “I discovered that these people are just like me … and in [that] process of discovery my fear of LGBT people decreased and disappeared.”

Despite Ukraine being the first post-Soviet country to decriminalise homosexuality in 1991, legal progress and social acceptance has lagged. Although there are laws against discrimination in the workplace, there is no recognition of any form of same-sex union, nor are there any laws recognising anti-LGBTQ hate crimes or banning conversion practices.

For years, LGBTQ people in Ukraine have fought to be recognised as equal members of society, but now, as Russian invasion imperils Ukraine’s very existence, LGBTQ Ukrainians are working and fighting to save a country that has not yet accepted them as full citizens.

According to a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology in 2023, the number of people who have a "negative view" of the LGBTQ community has decreased from 60.4% to 38.2%, over the past six years.
