Giving Bullying the Bird

A new anti-bullying campaign in U.S. This time, ads show celebrities giving bullies the middle finger.

Adam Lambert, LeAnn Rimes, Rumer Willis, Darren Criss, Tim Gunn, Real Housewives‘ Lisa Vanderpump and model Ronnie Kroell are among the celebs starring this campaign in support of the Friend Movement Anti-Bully Benefit Concert, scheduled for July 1 in Los Angeles.

The slogan of the campaign is "The New F Word", designed to empower youth by encouraging use of the word Friend to project inner strength and confidence. This confidence helps to build meaningful friendships and curb the bullying.

Some days ago, I posted about the case of Marcel Neergaard, 11-year-old from Tennessee, who had to leave public school and to be home-school because he had endured so much bullying for identifying as gay. That is a tragedy for him and his family, but in reality is a big failure of the educational system and a shame for society. We must educate in knowledge but also in values.

No more silence or indifference on bullying. With our behavior, attitude and acts we must fight and end this social scourge.
